Rudi Williams

Fine art photography
Rudi Williams is a visual artist based in Melbourne Australia. She graduated from the Victoria College of Arts, University of Melbourne, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Rudi’s artistic practice includes working with varied visual disciplines from analogue and digital photography, film and sculptural mediums to create exhibitions. Since 2014 Rudi has exhibited extensively in Victoria. She is inspired by blurred histories created by lingual and visual displacement.

Drawn from an archive sustained by her fieldwork in museums, galleries, and archaeological sites and from continued research about the history of image making, Rudi creates spatial narratives in gallery spaces and books with images made from various photographic forms. She uses historic and contemporary photographic practices as linguistic tools.

Rudi has lectured at MADA in the Photography department, introducing students to the history, theory and practical foundations of the black and white darkroom.
